Introduction to technology in children's literacy learning
The negative perceptions of parents in using technology are
evident through the research conducted via the link below, of what children
will do when left alone with a tablet.
The downside of gaming application in
the tablet will be the addictive nature of the game to complete the adventure,
less social interactions and less physical play, which will hinder children’s
social development, as well as their gross motor and fine motor skills.
However, when parents use technology to enhance children’s learning by being
selective of the technology to use and what to watch, then children will surely
benefit in their learning.
As we move to the era of advanced
technology, we have seen the shift in the increase of technology usage in
children’s learning. Our presentation is to provide an informed decision in
using technology by exploring the screen time in our children's use of
technology, the disadvantages, and the advantages, and look at strategies that
parents can utilise and implement technology to enhance their children learning.
